A workshop by Tracy Kane, revealing how her books motivate children to use their creativity and imagination when building fairy houses and how it is so important in today's high-tech, mass media world.
Offering a new way to explore nature, this enchanting activity reminds children of nature’s daily magic while stimulating their design and construction skills combined with a sense of accomplishment.
Participants will have a chance to contribute their skills building a fairy village outside (weather permitting, so please dress accordingly).
Adults only. Attendees must register in advance with the college.

A DAY OF ENCHANTMENT GARDEN PARTY
with Author Tracy Kane
Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area will host their 10th annual Garden Party, “A Day of Enchantment” at Fieldstone Garden. Special guest Tracy Kane, artist and author of “The Fairy Houses Series™”, will offer 2 two-hour workshops at 9:30am and at 1:00pm. Kane will read her book Fairy Houses and then accompany children and adults into the pine forest to help build a “Fairy Houses Village”. Children are encouraged to dress as fairies, butterflies or dragonflies. Kane will be available for a book signing at mid-day.
“A Day of Enchantment” will benefit Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area through sales of lunches, complementary care sessions, and raffle items. Live music, garden tours and workshops will round out the day. There is no admission fee and refreshments will be available for the children. Those who wish to reserve lunches and complementary care sessions should do so by June 12th. Jaffrey’s 2008 Garden Tour
Jaffrey, NH
TEAM Jaffrey’s Design and Downtown Enhancement Committees sponsor their seventh annual garden tour. This year, the Garden Tour will have an added bonus with the inclusion of Fairy Houses. These wonderful, diminutive homes will be located in gardens throughout the tour.
Tracy Kane, noted author of “The Fairy Houses Series™”, will be a featured guest. Tracy Kane majored in illustration at Philadelphia College of Art. She also studied in London, England where she met her husband.
Tracy does readings from her books at the following times:
Saturday - 11:30am and 1:30pm
Sunday - 12:30pm and 2pm
Tickets are $10 adults; $5 children.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens
The Maine Fairy Houses Festival
Boothbay, Maine
Nature, creativity, a love for whimsy and a passion for fairies culminate in a weekend of building fairy houses, storytelling, music and dancing to learn how to cultivate the fairies living amongst us, including building fairy houses. Stroll down the Hillside Trail and Shoreland Trail where an exhibit of fairy houses and fairy gardens guide you to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ delightfully “famous” Fairy Village known throughout the midcoast.
Tracy Kane will be available for book readings, signings, plus fairy house building workshops!

The Gardens are in mid-coast Maine, about an hour’s drive northeast of Portland and just 10 miles south of coastal Route 1.
From southern Maine: Follow signs to the Boothbay region. Soon after crossing the Wiscasset bridge on Route 1 North, turn right onto Route 27 South towards Boothbay. After 9.3 miles, bear right at the Boothbay monument, across from the town common and gazebo. Go straight at the stop sign immediately ahead. After 0.25 miles, turn right onto Barters Island Road. The entrance to the Gardens is about 1 mile ahead, on the left.

Southern NH Youth Ballet will be presenting "Fairy Houses - The Ballet" at the Prescott Park Arts Festival in Portsmouth, NH. Based on the award-winning "Fairy Houses Series™" of children’s books by Tracy Kane.
Southern NH Youth Ballet is the affiliate performing company for Southern NH Dance Theater. The company serves as a training ground for local youths and pre-professional students by providing them with intensive training, individual coaching, performing opportunities, and exposure to master classes from various guest artists. Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet, Inc. is a nonprofit organization. It is organized to act as a performing group, with the intent of promoting and encouraging the knowledge and appreciation of ballet and other dance forms through performance and education.

building a Fairy Houses Village on the woodland trail of the Upton State Forest!
Remember to bring your own special natural materials to use for your

From Rte. 495 take Upton-exit 21. Go west 3.5 miles and take right onto Westboro Rd. Upton State Forest entrance is 2 miles on the right. At the entrance, stay to the right and head up the hill toward the building.
